Golden’s little nugget: The Briarwood Inn

The Briarwood Inn, nestled beautifully in the foothills of Golden, Colorado has been a part of the region’s dining royalty for over thirty years. Not only is its setting idyllic, but everything about a dining experience at this fine dining tradition is spectacular.Diners are served a complimentary Briarwood appetizer tray which is a stunning compilation of fresh gulf shrimp, duck and chicken liver pate, smoked salmon butter, olive tempenade, blended cheddar cheese with port wine, and spinach and water chestnut mousseline for dipping. Sounds like a meal in and of itself, doesn’t it?Well, you better make sure you’ve saved room for some of the incredible entrees like Tournedoes “Excelsior” (filets of beef gently sauted in butter and shallots atop golden eggplant rounds and served with a Bernaise and Bordelaise sauce) or Duck a l’Amaretto (tender duckling seared until crispy then carefully roasted and glazed with an Amaretto sauce and sprinkled with almonds). Sounds pretty amazing, wouldn’t you agree? And if you started your meal off with one of the restaurant’s signature cocktails like a French Martini or a Mountain Mojito, perhaps you’d like to cap it off with one of their port, bourbon, or cognac selections.
